Except when they are breeding, herons spend much of their time alone, feeding in damp places or wading in water. Sometimes large numbers of birds can be seen together at a particularly good feeding site. They are wary and suspicious birds, choosing quiet areas to feed and are startled by noise.

If you have had a heron problem you will know that they are easily startled - sometimes the twitching of a curtain or tap on a window is enough, but unfortunately they can strike at any time day or night. This very easy to install FULLY AUTOMATED mains operated sounder has a built in PIR movement detector and will play a series of different sounds at 10 second intervals when the detection area has been entered, scaring the predator before it has the opportunity to get near your fish.

A dog bark will sound the moment the heron is detected, this is usually enough to scare it away and once the heron has gone the system will shut down after a few seconds , if you have a particularly stubborn pest then a clapping hands sound will play after 10 seconds etc, etc.
